Update PowerPoint from Excel using a Database and Excel

05.31.2022

The Client’s Quarterly Management meeting uses the same PowerPoint slide, just with updated numbers. There are many slides and, depending on the data, some new ones need to be inserted.

We created an Excel workbook that is connected to the Sales database and has the formatted charts and tables. We then took their PPT file and added ‘tags’ to each slide. Our Excel code refreshes the data from the database, loops through all the PPT slides, reads the ‘tag’ in the slide that tell it where the chart or table is, finds the updated data in Excel, and replaces the existing chart or table.

Versions of this can merge Sales and Nielsen data or compare more than one account.
